Banishing Bias Bingo, created by middle school student in North Carolina, is a great way of utilizing the game of Bingo to Accomplish Great Things!
Madi Rogers, a student at North Davie Middle School, decided to adapt our favorite classic into an ice-breaker game, in which players are encouraged to participate in conversation with others who are different from themselves in various ways, in order to fill in their bingo squares and complete the game. It was well received at her middle school, completed and returned with bingo's by all students; and even placed in the finals of the Davie Respect Initiative Challenge.
Madi is quoted, "If we actually meet people who are different from us in some way and we get to know them through a conversation, then our biases will drop away. We will have more understanding of who they are and what their lives are like which will lead to more respect for one another."
