A legislative proposal has been introduced to the parliament in Ireland, to consider making it mandatory to possess a lottery license, applicable to any commercial bingo operation. The law would require 25% of proceeds to go to charity, and the maximum prize amount can no longer exceed 50% of the proceeds.
Opponents to this legislature believe capping players' winnings will directly effect bingo sales and force many bingo operations to shut its doors, which has caused a lot of backlash and protesting from bingo players and hall operators, alike.
What do you think? Will this be the cause for mass closures? Will players stop going to bingo halls? Or will this be a blessing to charities that will outweigh any possible player loss?
